SWORD Method
The SWORD Method is a way to study Scripture that has you use basic questions about the passage you are reading to help see the bigger picture of the passage.
Begin by reading the passage a couple times. Summarize what you read in your own words.
Blade Tip: What does this passage say about God?
(character, actions, relation to us)Handle: What does this passage say about man?
(human nature, tendencies, etc)Right Blade Edge: Are there promises to believe? Are there commands to obey? Are there examples to follow?
Left Blade Edge: Are there sins to avoid? Are there warnings to heed?
Hilt: What is the author’s main point? How do I need to respond?
Hebrews 4:12
