Schedule

Breakout Sessions

  • Following Jesus begins with belief in the truth of the gospel and acceptance of the free gift of grace that is given to us. This truth shows that we cannot save ourselves through our own striving or actions. How then do we live as a new creation with the assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ, not reliant on deeds but faithful in working through the good works which God prepared for us beforehand? Meeting on the field side porch of the Sanctuary.

  • In our postmodern, individualist cultural moment, it goes uncontested that being “true to oneself” is a good and honorable thing. We encourage people, “Do what works for you!” But Jesus’ framework tells us to deny ourselves and pick up our cross. With this in mind, how should we relate to others today? This session will discuss how Jesus gives us freedom to deny ourselves, and seek not our own good, but the good of our neighbor. Meeting at picnic tables across the field next to the shed.

    *recommended for leadership/those discipling others

  • “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” In this breakout, we will consider the life and ministry of missionary, Jim Elliot. Meeting in the Sanctuary.

  • Fasting, what does the Bible say about it? How do you do it? What should you expect from it? Meeting on stone benches between field and cafeteria.
